Microsoft Word Keyboard Shortcut Issue

Things not going bold? No new document?

So today, we stumbled across an issue with Microsoft Word in the Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise build 2411.

When you want to make text bold and try and use CTRL + B it doesn’t work. Apparently CTRL+N does. Huh! Surly CTRL+N is a new blank document. Well it should be but it isnt at the moment.

There are posts around on the net that point you to changing the keyboard shortcut (File > Options > Customise Ribbon > Customise Keyboard) but apperently there are reports that this is then reset back.

Reddit to the rescue! This post reports that it is an acknowledged bug by Microsoft which will be fixed in the next build of Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise.

I have a ticket logged with Microsoft so will update the post with any information to share.

I am still working through things with Microsoft Support, and doing so today it would appear that the Current Channel has had an update [ Build 2412 18324.20168 ] and it seems that the keyboard shortcuts are now working again for Bold and New Document. Will be verifying with a few people tomorrow (14 Jan) and I’ll update here.

Nothing in the release notes about it either!

So after checking with more then a handful of people it would seem that the Build 2412 has resolved the issue. But Microsoft, why no public announcement of the issue and its resolution?
