New in Windows App…

v1.3.278.0

26 August 2024 saw the release of a new version of the Windows App which aligns it more with the functionality of the Remote Desktop Client app.

Importantly, it has the essential features:

  • Refresh Button to refresh resources on both the Devices and the Apps tabs AND on the home tab when there are pinned items
  • View Devices and Apps in a grid format or list format

With these two features, in my opinion it brings the Windows App into feature parity with the Remote Desktop Client.

I have been using the Windows app, which is still currently in preview, for a while now and it stands high over the Remote Desktop client as it brings “Self Service” options like Restart, Reimage and Repair into the hands of the end users (as long as you have the options set in the policy.

This is one app I am looking forward to getting out of preview and into General Availability. No word from Microsoft on when this will be.
